PEOPLE living in and around Grayrigg will be updated on the operation to recover the derailed train at a public meeting on Tuesday.

The meeting will take place on, (March 6) at 8.30pm at Grayrigg Church.

People will have the opportunity to put questions to police representatives involved in the operation. Anyone is welcome to attend.

Residents are also being warned by police to keep their vehicles off the A685, between Tebay and Grayrigg, until cranes designed to shift the nine-carriage train leave the village.

The operation is expected to continue until Wednesday, (March 7).

There will be "no waiting cones" in place throughout the village and vehicles left on the road will be taken away by police.

Grayrigg's weekly rubbish collection was also cancelled last week.

Police representatives said it would not have been possible for the bin wagon to operate safely without interfering with the recovery operation.

Any residents with concerns should contact Cumbria Police on 0845 33 00 24 7.

Daily updates on the recovery operation are available on Grayrigg School's website(www.grayrigg.cumbria.sch.uk) and are posted around the village.
