UPSTAIRS, in the Brewery Arts Centre's Sugar Store Gallery, a riot of sculptured winged creatures and fragile figurines line the walls.

And each has a story to tell Particle Article, an exhibition cleverly put together by creators Claire Benson and Amy Nightingale, runs until May 11 and is great fun.

Enclosed in simple white boxes, the artistic duo's wall-to-wall mix of mighty miniatures resemble fairies, insects, angels, or a cross of each, often with a short narrative describing their secret activities and mischievous nature, giving the piece a humorous twist.

Within the items there are light bulbs a plenty, such as Angel of the Lightbulb, an elegant dazzler; plus Electric Ladyland, an illuminating three-piece of bulb-bases that form the platform for a trio of Jimi Hendrix-like wires.

There's also Kendal Castle Key Keeper. Now extinct, the creature was found inside the castle, where it kept watchful guard over the keys to the many rooms.

Claire and Amy are sisters who started working together in 2007.
