The council are asking for input from local residents on a brand new playground proposed for Kirkby Stephen.

As part of funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Westmorland and Furness council is working closely with Kirkby Stephen Town Council and the Cricket Club to develop a new playground on the ground adjacent to the cricket pitch in Kirkby Stephen.

A spokesperson for Westmorland and Furness council said: "The aim of the project is to create an exciting and challenging play experience for children of all abilities up to the age of 14, making the site a destination playground where children and their families could spend the day not only enjoying the playground, but enjoying walks along the river and the incredible views from this location.

"The Council has this week launched a consultation to help develop the plans and are asking for people to share their views on how we can make the site a great experience for local residents and visitors to the town.

“Following evaluation of the responses and a tender process, a final design will be drawn up and an application for planning permission will be submitted."

The online consultation can be found on the Westmorland and Furness website and ends on May 15.
