Teen sensations McFly are set to rock Blackpool at next week's illuminations switch on.

With a succession of summer festival dates behind them, the boys will be stopping off at Blackpool's Radio 2 Arena before embarking on their UK tour.

The boy band will join a line-up of A-list pop performers on the night including chart topping Natasha Bedingfield who will top the bill with some of her famous hits and songs from her forthcoming single Say It Again.

Former Neighbours star, Australian Natalie Imbruglia, will also take centre stage to perform her forthcoming single and hits from her fourth album Glorious.

Heart-throb singer Gareth Gates makes his second visit of this season to the resort.

The former Pop Idol will be performing songs from his latest album, Pictures of the Other Side.

The musicians and singers will be joining this year's switch on celebrity, BBC One's Doctor Who, David Tennant, at the launch of the of the Illuminations on Friday, August 31.

Dale Winton, host of BBC Radio 2's Sunday afternoon Pick of the Pops show, will be presenting this special broadcast which will go out live on air between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

Dale, whose show takes a look back at the hits from years gone by, makes a return to the event for the second year in succession, after flicking the famous switch to mark the start of the 2006 display.

Early evening entertainment at the Radio 2 Arena will be provided from around 6pm by Canadian duo RyanDan, the cast of Chicago, who are performing at the Opera House and the cast of South Pacific, who are playing at the Grand Theatre, along with teenage solo singer, Steph Fraser.

Councillor Mrs Maxine Callow, portfolio holder for tourism and regeneration said: "The early announcement of David Tennant as headliner for this years concert has already generated a great deal of excitement around the switch on.

"The Illuminations are a very important asset to the resort, and we are pleased to announce such an exciting line up for what will be a great start to the 2007 Illuminations season."

The big Switch On will take place at around 9.25pm during the live BBC Radio 2 show.

The lights feature brand new themed sections on Doctor Who and Decodance by Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.

The Illuminations will then shine for 66 consecutive nights until Sunday, November 4.
