Fylde director of rugby Mark Nelson was pleased with his side’s performance last weekend but thinks they can still raise their game.

He said: “This was a good performance against useful opponents - no one should underestimate the Bees.

“The importance of this result, with the four try bonus point, is underlined by Caldy's defeat at Macclesfield.

“We did drift away in the second half. We have to show rather more hunger to finish off opponents and, in particular, clear out the rucks more effectively. We must raise our game a couple of levels.

“I feel that we are developing as a quality side. The introduction of new prop Ross Davies indicates the level of competition for starting places in the squad.

“Darren Clark will be available for our next game at Preston and Nick Royle should soon be fit again.

“My main challenge now is man management, accommodating the very good players we have.

“There is a really good feeling around the Woodlands now. When I looked around the dressing room before the game on Saturday I realised the talent we have.”
