Blackpool entertained another touring side on Saturday when they played a team from Watford RUFC at their Mossom Lane home.

Watford, who are in the same situation as Blackpool as they have just won promotion from their league, were not going to be a pushover for the home side as they defended with vigour.

They held out against a Blackpool onslaught until the 11th minute when their defence was eventually breeched. Adam Evans, playing as a guest for Blackpool, converted some good forward pressure when he surged towards the opposition try line. He held off a strong challenge to pass the ball out to scrum half Carl Reynolds who scored close to the posts to give an easy conversion to full back Sean Donnelly. With the score at 7 0 in Blackpool's favour, Watford began to get a foothold in the game. Ever dangerous on the break, they managed to get through the home defence in the 15th minute to score an unconverted try. They were rewarded for their pressure two minutes later when they scored another unconverted to put them into a 10 7 lead.

Blackpool managed to get themselves back on track however in the 21st minute when the same combination as earlier, Evans and Reynolds, again combined for Reynolds to score his second try of the match. Blackpool went into half time with a 14 10 half time lead.

As last week, Blackpool carried out major changes during the half time break to give everyone a run out. Watford scored within four minutes of the restart; the try was unconverted but put the visitors back into a 15 14 lead. This was to be the last scoring move from the visitors as their game fell apart. Blackpool began to take over and they were rewarded in the 14th minute when another Blackpool guest, Adam Crisp who has just been signed up by Sale Academy, ended off a scintillating run from full back to score under the posts for Mike Routliffe to convert. Blackpool surged forward again and only six minutes later, prop George Hunt went over the whitewash to extend the lead to 26 15. The try went unconverted this time but Blackpool were now in the ascendancy Just before full time number eight Leon Mason opened his account by scoring under the posts, Mason took his own conversion to put the score out to the final 38 15.
