Blackpool RUFC 1st XV travelled away to Hutton at their Lancashire Police Headquarters ground with a bare 15 players and paid for it.

They pressured the Hutton back line for the first five minutes of the game but then succumbed to the superior opposition.

In the 6th minute they gave away a try which went unconverted to open the score to 5 – 0.

In the 10th minute Hutton scored, again going unconverted to take the score to, 10 – 0.

In the 20th minute of the first half, during a ruck close to the Blackpool line, Hutton had their N0 8 sin binned for unsportsmanlike play.

Unfortunately the Blackpool player concerned, their flanker Zac Garner, had to be carried off with suspected broken ribs.

Blackpool carried on with only 14 players and held out in the first half limiting the score to 29 – 0.

The second half opened with the Blackpool giving there all but, alas, this was not to be enough as they were now a player down on the opposition.

Blackpool, although they held their heads up were unable to stop the superior Hutton side as they ran in a further 7 tries to take the score to the final 72 – 0 in Hutton’s favour.

Blackpool have little to take from the game apart from the fact that they kept their heads up in the face of adversity; they also need to travel with more players if they are to stand a chance in the league.
