Blackpool did it, they went a full season without picking up a point in their league although it can be said in their favour that they never let their heads drop once in the face of adversity.
They gave away their customary try in only the third minute of the half which went unconverted to open up the score to 5 - 0 in Eccles's favour.
This was followed up by another try to the visitors in the 15th minute although this was against the run of play as Blackpool were making the most of the play and looked as though they were going to make a good fist of getting their first points of the campaign in their last game of the season.
Blackpool kept exerting pressure but was unable to convert this into points and they suffered in the end.
They continued to pressurise the Eccles defence but in the end, fitness prevailed and Eccles ran out winners by 62 - 0 in this hard fought contest.
Blackpool has now been relegated to North Lancs. 2 and will hope to bounce back by winning the league next season.
They have also applied to the Miller Homes League to enter a 2nd XV next season so, all in all, things are beginning to look up for the club and all new and old members will be welcome for the coming season.
The Senior/Junior Colts presentation night is due to take place on May 17 to which all are invited.
