Blackpool was never in this match from the outset when they arrived with only 13 players to play against a full strength and very strong and well-drilled Eccles side.

From the very first whistle Blackpool were under the cosh and succumbed to the first Eccles try after only 2 minutes when the home side ran through the Blackpool defence to score under the posts.

The only fight back from the Blackpool side was a penalty awarded to them in the 11 minute for the home side not releasing the ball, a penalty which stand off Sean Donnelly slotted over to score Blackpool's only points of the match.

The visitors did try again however in the 25 minute when, after a brief spell of pressure, Donnelly attempted a drop goal but saw his effort drift just wide of the upright.

To add to the Blackpool tail of woe forward Mick Harrison was taken by ambulance to hospital suffering from what appeared to be ligament damage to his right knee thus reducing the visitors to only 12 men on the field.

Eccles sensed the ever evident Blackpool deficiencies and started to run amok bringing the score to the final 137 - 3.

Eccles supporters congratulated the Blackpool side after the match for the effort they put in against overwhelming odds.

They continued to show aggression throughout, never letting their heads drop.

In fact a couple of Eccles supporters said that had the boot been on the other foot and their side were starring a drubbing in the face, they thought that the side heads would go down and that they would give up on the match.

Training this Tuesday is in the Blackpool & Fylde College Sports Hall and it is hoped that numbers will improve.

Meet at the changing rooms at 7:30 p.m. for a warm up and jog down to the sports hall.
