Blackpool applied pressure to the Littleborough defence from the first whistle of the game and were rewarded in the 7th minute when they were awarded a penalty for offside just inside the visitors half.

Stand off Sean Donnelly stepped up to the mark and, taking full advantage of the wind at his back, slotted over the kick for Blackpool to take a well deserved lead of 3 points to nil. Blackpool continued to pressurise the Littleborough defence but were unable to convert it into points on the board.

In a rare attack from the visitors, Donnelly slipped and allowed the opposition to get through to score an unconverted try.

In the 33rd minute Blackpool was again awarded a penalty for offside at just about the same position as the last one.

Donnelly again stepped up for the attempt on goal but missed with his kick.

Almost immediately Blackpool were given another penalty from just inside the opposition half. Donnelly kicked at goal but saw his effort strike the cross bar and bounce back into play allowing the Littleborough side to clear their lines.

The half-time whistle went with the score at 5 - 3 in the visitors favour with Blackpool having everything to play for in the second half.

What was said at half time was unknown to the spectators but Blackpool seemed to go back into their shell and let the Littleborough side get the upper hand. Blackpool, after a gutsy first half display, let the visitors back into the game and they ran in a further 31 points without reply to take the score to the final 36 - 3.

If they are to get out of trouble, Blackpool need to play for the full 80 minutes and not give up the fight so early in the game.

On the plus side, they welcomed back Julian Maynard playing at No 8 who looked quite handy. They are also beginning to play together and, with a bit of luck, it will only be a matter of time before they start winning matches but it is only hoped that this does not come too late to avoid relegation which increasingly looks like happening.
