Blackpool went down again on Saturday to a superior Heaton Moor side at their Mossom Lane ground by 11points to 48.

Heaton Moor are top of the league not having dropped any points this season but were frightened somewhat by the ferocity of the Blackpool onslaught which caught them unawares. In fact the Blackpool side opened the scoring as early as the 1st minute when Stand Off Sean Donnelly slotted over a penalty from near the half way line.

The home side continued to apply the pressure and were rewarded again in the 8th minute by the boot of Donnelly.

He took full advantage of the stiff wind behind him when he kicked another penalty from near the half way line to put Blackpool into a 6 - 0 lead.

This was the first time this season that Blackpool had lead the opposition and they were relishing that fact.

The euphoria lasted until the 15th minute when they relinquished the lead to an ever more confident Heaton Moor side who were beginning to show why they are top of the league.

Blackpool did not however give up the fight as had so often happened in previous games and they battled on to go into the half time break down but not out by 6 - 27.

The second half saw Blackpool taking the game to the visitors and they went close a couple of times but could not get over the line to score. Heaton Moor managed to score a converted try in the 12th minute of the second half and Blackpool hit back 5 minutes later when back row Heath George managed to score his second try of the season.

The conversion was missed and the score went to a more respectable11 points to 34.

Blackpool were now going all out to get back into the match and put one over on the top of the league side but this lead to errors which allowed Heaton Moor to score a couple of converted tries to take it to the final 48 - 11.

Blackpool, although they lost this game and have not managed a point all season, can take some positives out of the match.

Their heads never went down and they continued fighting until the final whistle.

The backs also played well during today's game, tackling and attacking throughout.

Flanker Heath George put in a man of the match performance and Danny Badham, playing in his debut match, showed that he could be quite a find for the future.
