In a match played in atrocious weather conditions, Blackpool managed to draw with their opponents in this North Lancs League One fixture.

Birchfield, playing with the gale force wind in the first half opened the scoring almost immediately with a converted try.

Blackpool though, were undaunted by this and came at the opposition with a vengeance.

They exerted pressure and were unlucky not to pull back a score before Birchfield scored again.

This try went unconverted and put them ahead by 12 - 0.

The home side came back again and this time the pressure paid off as Barry Tucker, after some good forward play managed to score a try, which was converted by full back Ross Sindell.

The opposition were again to score in the first half, a try which was to be their last score of the match.

With the score now at 17-7 in the away side's favour, Blackpool came at them again and managed to score an unconverted try thanks to second row Tom Cockcroft, his first try for the team.

The first half ended with the score at 17-12 with the prospects of an interesting second 40 minutes with Blackpool now with the wind in their favour.

Blackpool came out firing on all cylinders in the second half applying immediate pressure to the Birchfield defence to level the scores.

Next week Blackpool play bottom of the league Colne and Nelson at home in a must win fixture.
