Fylde rugby legend and former England captain Bill Beaumont received a CBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Mr Beaumont, 56, who is still based in Lytham, received his award for services to rugby and charity.
Among his many charitable endeavours Mr Beaumont is involved in the Lancashire branch of the Wooden Spoon Society which supports local children's charities with cash for sports equipment.
He also volunteers with the Lancashire Association of Clubs for Young People.
Beaumont joined Fylde as a 17-year-old in 1969 and stayed with the club until injury forced him to retire in 1982.
He was capped 34 times for his country, 21 of which were as captain, and he also captained the British Lions on their tour to South Africa in 1980.
