Fleetwood have signed striker David McNiven on a loan deal from Stafford Rangers.

The centre forward joins the Highbury club on a one month deal and brings a wealth of experience, most recently with Stafford Rangers and Morecambe.

McNiven will take the place of striker Phil Denney, who has left Highbury to sign for Guiseley, who lie second in the Unibond Premier Division.

Denney made 130 league and cup appearances for Fleetwood, scoring 33 times.

He said: “Fleetwood Town has been good to me. I leave behind a great bunch of lads in the dressing room and with the knowledge the club is in good hands.

“The team are going places and will be successful under Micky Mellon.

"I'll miss the Highbury supporters as they always made me feel at home.

“I've played 130 games for the club and that means something, I leave with fond memories.

“However, the time is now right for me to move on and take the next step in my footballing career.

“Guiseley are a club who are also on the up, they have people in charge who are taking the club in a positive direction and I'm excited about the fresh start and look forward to meeting everyone at Guiseley."

Fleetwood Town chairman, Andy Pilley, said "Phil is a tremendous person and has a first class character.

“He has given his all as a player for Fleetwood Town and played a key part in our success, we wish him all the very best for the future."
