Club captain Michael Jackson was among 11 players today told they would not be offered a new contract at Bloomfield Road.
Simon Grayson's cull of the current playing squad means the Seasiders boss could be set for a busy summer as he looks strengthen his side for a second assault on the Championship.
As well as Jackson, Wembley hero Keigan Parker was released, along with John Hills, Paul Tierney, Phil Doughty, Andy Welsh, Marcus Bean, Lewis Edge, Michael Flynn, Matt Lawlor and Phil Marsh.
Ben Burgess, Danny Coid, Stephen Crainey, Kaspars Gorkks, Matt Kay and Michael D'Agostino all had options for a one-year contract extension activated.
The club is waiting to hear back from Andy Morrell, Claus Jorgensen and Simon Wiles who have been offered new contracts.
