A Blackpool post office closed down for good yesterday after last-ditch plans for a rescue deal were scuppered.
Torway Post Office in Layton, was one of eight branches in the area axed by the Post Office last month.
The others will all close down their counter operations by the middle of May.
Blackpool Council attempted to broker a rescue deal whereby they would transfer some of their services to the branch but the move came too late to prevent the closure.
Blackpool council leader Peter Callow branded the behaviour of Post Office bosses as appalling' as they would not extend their closure deadline.
A spokesman for Post Office Ltd said they would continue to negotiate with the council but the Network Change programme meant the Torsway branch had to close on April 30.
