St Annes suffered a shock league defeat at Chorley after being dismissed for just 70 but then enjoyed a Thwaites Cup final triumph over Kendal the following day.

St Annes scored 180 in the cup final and their opponents could manage 119 in reply.

They had looked set for victory over Chorley on Saturday after the home side scored a total of 87 with Michael Baer claiming five wickets.

But none of the St Annes batsman could manage a half decent score as Stephen John took and Bill Smith took four wickets each for Chorley.

Only Gareth Evans, ninth out with 25 and John Musgrave, with 14, reached reach double figures.

The defeat leaves them in second place behind Morecambe.

Morecambe made easy pickings of Fleetwood by bowling them out for 100 thanks to 8-59 from Jono Gates with only John Wright and Tom Wilson, both of whom made 27, making much headway. Mark Woodhead then struck a belligerent 59 not out to take his side to victory by eight wickets at 101-2.

Chorley's win means that Blackpool who were without a match, they are now back at the bottom of the Northern Premier League.
