Blackpool will be welcoming some of the world's top women cricketers over the Bank Holiday Weekend, for the first time in 25 years.

The England Women's team will do battle with New Zealand for the NatWest Women's Series trophy, with two of the six matches taking part at Blackpool's Stanley Park ground.

The one-day internationals will take place on Sunday August 26 and Monday August 27.

Ahead of the fixtures both teams will have an open top bus tour down the Promenade from 2.30pm on Friday afternoon.

England captain Charlotte Edwards said: "It's great to be playing back in Blackpool. We launched the series here in early August and we got a great welcome, so it should be a great event.

"A lot of publicity and promotional activity has gone into the game, so we're expecting good crowds at the ground. New Zealand are a tough side so we need to play at the top of our game to stand any chance of lifting the NatWest Women's Series Trophy this year."

The English Cricket Board's Cricket Factory will be at the ground on both days, introducing youngsters to the basics of the game.

Tickets are £5 for adults and free for under-16's, with play starting at 10.45am each day.
