Fylde Cricket Club’s second XI has won the Moore and Smalley sponsored Palace Shield team of the month award for August/September.

The team scored 48 points from their last five games to secure second place in division 3 and promotion, and also pick up the monthly award.

During the last two months they beat first placed Penwortham and third placed Norcross and throughout the season the team used 29 players aged from 13 up to 56.

Moore and Smalley partner, Andrew Norman, presented a bottle of bubbly to team captain, Lloyd Jones, and all rounder Anthony Ellison.

Lloyd Jones said: “We’ve had a brilliant season and were only beaten once and that was by Penwortham who went on to win the division title. Our aim at the start of the season was to get promoted and we’ve done just that so this award is for everyone involved at Fylde Cricket Club.”
