Loan star Dickinson leads the way for Blackpool

Floundering after four successive defeats, Blackpool boss Simon Grayson last week asked Karl Oyston to dip into the club’s coffers to help put the team back on the rails – and can already claim he spent the money wisely.

Liam Dickinson arrived on loan from Derby County and scored twice within six minutes of his second half introduction to land all three points for the Seasiders in a fine 2-1 away win at Plymouth, against one of the division’s form teams.

And his second goal was laid on a plate for him by Kyel Reid, who arrived on the same day in a loan deal from West Ham.

Both players took to the tangerine like men with points to prove and helped the Seasiders grab three precious points in the process.

It turns out that Dickinson, now 23, has been at the club before.

He spent six months at Bloomfield Road as a youngster but turned down the offer of professional terms in favour of a contract with Bolton Wanderers.

Now, his aim is to show Paul Jewell that he should be starting for Derby – and he and Reid could play an important part in the Seasiders’ recovery programme with six games to come in December.
