Police are warning Preston North End fans to behave ahead of the Lancashire derby with Blackpool on Sunday.

Last season’s equivalent game was marred by racist and homophobic chanting from rival fans.

The Bloomfield Road fixture is a sell out of nearly 10,000.

Pubs and bars around the ground and in the town centre have been asked to remain closed until 12:45pm.

Superintendent Richard Debicki said: “It should be a great atmosphere. We have a substantial policing operation on the day.

“My message to anybody who might think about causing problems is to stay away because the police will take action against you, making arrests where necessary.”
