Elena Mingus clearing the bar at 3.00m. to win the Lancashire Senior Ladies Championships last year
The club's senior ladies pole vault champion, Elena Mingus, started the new year in spectacular form at the City of Manchester Open Indoor Athletics Meeting, last weekend.
Elena, who has been competing in BWFAC colours since her early teens, established a new personal best performance for the pole vault with a clearance of 3.10m. for a highly creditable 4th. place at the meeting against a star studied opposition.
Competing at the same meeting was one of the club's most promising youngsters, Kassidy Knight, who had a busy afternoon taking third place in the 200m.sprint in a time of 30.65 secs. followed by 6th.place in the shorter 60m.sprint in 8.93 secs.
Kassidy then bravely tackled an unfamiliar event for her, the long jump, where she achieved a distance of 4.07m. for 25th. position out of large field of the day.
The first local outdoor track and field "Winter Warm-Up" meeting is scheduled to take place at the Stanley Park Arena, Blackpool, on March 16.
