Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde AC held its annual end of season medal meeting at the Stanley Park Arena.

Matt Wright was the only senior men's winner taking gold in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.0m.

Likewise, Elena Mingus was the only senior women's winner making it a double gold for the club in the pole vault with a clearance of 2.80m.

Ryan Ruckledge was the only gold medallist in the under 17 age group, taking the 100mhurdles in a time of 19.5 secs. while Lucy Mansfield took her customary double gold in the under 15 girls sprint events with times of 12.8 secs. and 26.00 secs.

This was duplicated in the field events by Thomas Baran with 12.30m. in the shot putt and 39.09m. in the hammer throw event.

In the under 13 division, Ben Everson continued his winning form with a fine 2 mins.30.30 secs.win in the 800m. while this season's new find,Tash Gardner, took gold in the 80m. sprint with 11.8 secs. followed by Rebecca Todd in the 100m. with 15.1 secs. and Kassidy Knight in the long jump with 4.30m.

The club won a further three gold medals in both the under 11 and under 9 age groups.

For the under 11s, Bradley Yates was successful in the 800m. in 2 mins.27.2 secs. while David Jones struck gold in the long jump with 3.95m. duplicated by Katrina Kelly with 3.66m.

In the youngest, under 9 years, age group, Oliver Tomlinson demonstrated his speed and strength by winning the 80m.sprint in a time of 12.9 secs. followed by the 800m. in 3 mins. 04.9 secs. while Ciaran Johnson took the gold medal in the long jump with 3.18m.

Laura Davies represented Scotland in the Under 20 Inter-Territorial Match at Hendon where she was placed 5th. in the 100m."A" race in a time of 12.41 secs.

Congratulations are due to Zoe Dixon and Stuart Robinson who have been named Athletes of the Month for August.

Zoe represented Great Britain in the 16th World Transplant Games in Thailand where she achieved double gold for cycling and silver medals in the 100m.and 200m.sprint, smashing her personal best performances in the process with times of 15.53 secs. and 31.62 secs.

She also won three gold medals in the 100m; 200m.and the 400m. in the British Transplant Championships the previous month.

Stuart Robinson, meanwhile, has consistently performed well on both the road and track throughout the summer season, culminating in third place in the 10,000m in 34 mins. 06.24 secs.last weekend
