Rochelle Hearsum was the only Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde AC winner at the Northern Inter Club Cup track and field meeting at Stanley Park when she won the 100m non-scoring sprint in an excellent time of 12.49 seconds.

The club's top one lap specialist, Ted Romney, was just beaten to the tape in the 400m in a time of 50.89 behind Trafford's Scott Riley in 50.69.

Chris Beggan recorded a fine personal best in the 400m hurdles where he just failed to break the 60 second barrier with a time of 60.14s as runner-up to Jon Ferryman of City of Manchester AC.who recorded 58.69.

Matt Wright was another runner-up in the pole vault where he cleared 3.80m.-just 20cm.short of the winner, Manchester's Matt Cullen.

Damian Clayson had a typically busy afternoon, coming runner-up in the high jump with a clearance of 1.75m; fourth in the long jump with 5.61m before assisting the 4 X 100m relay squad to third place in a time of 46.5 behind Trafford and Wakefield Harriers who dead heated in 45.8.

In the longest event of the day, Stuart Robinson,who is equally at home on the road and cross country trails, ran a strong race in windy conditions to take third place in the 10000m in 34 mins 06.24.

Blackpool Wyre & Fylde AC finished in fourth position out of the seven teams competing in the final with 149 points behind the winners,Trafford AC.with 197 points.
