In the UK School Games in Coventry, BWFAC junior high jump international, Hannah Dickson, was disappointed with her third place with 1.68m after clearing 1.70m on numerous occasions this year.

Lytham schoolgirl, Sophie Owen was also in action, being placed 5th in the 300m in a time of 40.79 secs.

Ten athletes travelled over to Manchester on Monday evening for the Trafford Open Medals Meeting.

The club's men's veteran distance champion, Greg Seddon had an excellent outing to win the 3000m in a time of 9 mins 04.5 secs.

In the under 15 girls' division, Katy Wyper struck gold in the long jump with a leap of 5.04m which she followed up by taking silver in both the 100m sprint with 12.9 secs and the 200m in 27.5 secs.

To keep it in the family,Katy's younger sister, Holly also struck gold in the under 13 girls' discus with 12.80m.

Silver medals were won by Sophie Riley in the 150m sprint in 20.8 secs. and Abby Bleasdale in the javelin with 14.90m.

Bronze medals were also won by Sophie Riley in the 75m sprint in 10.6 secs, Kassidy Knight in the javelin with 13.86m and Marie Andrews in the shot putt with a throw of 6.45m.

The star of the evening, however, was young Tash Gardner who won three gold medals in the under 11 girls' division.

Tash won the high jump with a clearance of 1.15m, the 75m.sprint in 10.9 secs and the 150m in 22.2 secs.
