Our campaign to make a real difference to families in crisis, those unfortunate enough to be affected by domestic abuse is entering its final three weeks.

Already the generosity of the Fylde public has become evident with dozens of donations being left with us.

The Citizen is collecting new toys and essential goods for Fylde Coast Women's Aid, which operates two refuges covering the boroughs of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre and offer support to hundreds of others.

All we ask is that gifts are new and unwrapped, and tins and unperishable foods are within their sell-by date.

Toiletries for the mothers would also be appreciated, as would nappies and items for babies.

Readers wishing to make a donation can call in to our offices at 13-13A, Clifton Street, Blackpool, during office hours.

Anyone needing advice about domestic abuse can call Fylde Coast Womens' Aid helpline on 01253 596699. The helpline is open 11am - 9.30pm, Monday - Friday and noon-9pm at weekends.

Outside those hours the national helpline is 0808 2000247.
