Citizen readers are continuing to rally together to offer a helping hand to families suffering domestic abuse in the Fylde Coast.

With the help of customers and work colleagues, John McVey, managing director of 21st Century Windows of Poulton donated a truck load of new toys and essential goods for the Citizen's Tins and Toys appeal.

The gifts will now make their way to the Fylde Coast Women's Aid, which operates two refuges covering the boroughs of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.

Mr McVey, said: "I always get inundated with requests from charities but when I got this request it really made me think about the families that were suffering, and frankly I was quite frightened at the extent of the problem."

The charity offers support to hundreds of women and families who have been victims of domestic abuse.

All we ask is that the gifts are new and unwrapped, and tins and unperishable foods are within their sell-by date.

Toiletries for the mothers would also be appreciated, as would nappies and items for babies.

Readers wishing to make a donation can call into our offices at 13-13A, Clifton Street, Blackpool, during office hours.
