An action plan to try and refloat the stricken Riverdance ferry is being put forward to the Government's salvage minister.

Storms and high tides have prevented attempts to refloat the boat and correct the list, and the vessel is now completely on its side and has partly sunk into the sand.

An action plan is now being put forward for Hugh Shaw, the Secretary of State's Representative for Maritime Salvage and Intervention, (SOSREP) to consider.

The Riverdance has been stuck on the beach south of Cleveleys since it ran aground on January 31, while travelling from Northern Ireland to Heysham.

The ferry has become a major tourist attraction since its arrival on the Fylde coast, with an estimated 100,000 people going to see it.

The stricken Riverdance ferry above will not be moved from the Cleveleys coastline for at least another two weeks.
