The high winds battering the Fylde coast overnight and this morning have caused structural damage to a property in Cleveleys and a sign to tear off a building in Blackpool.

Firefighters were called to an address in Nutter Road at 5:37am where the roof of a 13m x 5m garage used for storage had collapsed.

The wall skin of the gable end of the property had also collapsed at first floor.

The area has been cordoned off by the fire service and police and building inspectors are on site.

The southbound carriageway of the Promenade in Blackpool, between New Bonny Street and Chapel Street, is also closed after a sign was blown off a nearby building, blocking the road.
