Poulton town centre will be awash with seasonal spirit at the start of next month.

Festive fare, carols, late night shopping and a visit from Santa are just some of the reasons to get down to the town centre from December 5 and support the event which has been organised by the Poulton Market Town Initiative.

Highlights include a local produce market from 3pm in the town square and the lighting of the crib in St Chad's Church yard from around 3.45pm, followed by carols led by Hodgson High School band.

Shops will open late until 8pm with plenty of special offers for customers.

Meanwhile, two events are being held to raise money for Poulton's Christmas lights fund.

Forget Aintree, Epsom and Newmarket, punters can head to The Edge on Tuesday 25 November for a big screen race night from 8pm. Admission is free.

Then it's time to get bidding on Thursday 4 December with a Christmas auction at The Cube.

Lots you could be heading home with a host of goodies including a signed Blackpool FC shirt, a signed picture of Brian London with Muhammad Ali and a laptop.

The fun starts at 8.30pm and admission is free.
