Wyre residents can now see what time their local pub is allowed to open or when live bands can perform, at the click of a mouse.

Wyre Borough Council has introduced a section to their website providing a new licensing register, with details of individual licences and conditions, so residents can check at a glance which restaurants can serve alcohol without a meal, and even which caravan sites are licensed.

Council health and safety and licensing manager, Malcolm Reece said that previously it was only possible to view the register in its entirety, which made it difficult to find the details of specific premises.

He said: “We have been concerned for some time that online information about the licences we issue has not been readily available in a user-friendly way.

“We hope this new facility makes it far easier for residents to find out about the hours a premises is allowed to open and what measures a licensee is obliged to take.

“This not only gives access to a lot of useful information but also gives protection to the public, ensuring they know that services they use and premises they visit in the borough are properly licensed.”

The online register can be accessed from the licensing services page at www.wyrebc.gov.uk.
