Poulton youngsters have been taking time out of the classroom to get closer to nature.
Eight students from Hodgson High School enjoyed a wood carving workshop at Wyre Estuary Country Park.
Their wet but productive morning was all in aid of a new woodland trail which the school is helping Wyre Borough Council's Countryside Service to develop.
The result was a number of creative leaf patterns etched into individual timber posts for display in a family area along the trail in the near future.
An inscription detailing the conservation value of trees and uses of the wood will also be included.
