A Blackpool man screeched into his second century with a ride out in a luxury sports car.
Ernest Man, who celebrated his 100th birthday on Friday, enjoyed a trip around Poulton in a convertible BMW Roadster.
Staff at Primrose Bank Rest Home in Poulton, where Ernest resides, organised the treat, along with a party attended by friends and relatives, with musical entertainment provided by children from Hodgson High School.
Ernest lived in Blackpool for more than 40 years where he was employed as a draughtsman in the electrical industry.
He played violin in the Blackpool Symphony Orchestra and was a member of the Society for Model Engineers, building miniature locomotives which he ran on a track at Marsh Mill, Thornton.
When asked the secret of a long life he said: "I started work at 13 and kept busy until I retired. You need to be occupied and always keep your mind active."
