An inquest into the death of an eight-year-old found hanging by his own school tie has recorded a verdict of misadventure.
Joshua Aldred, King Edward and Queen Mary School pupil, was discovered by his grandmother hanging in his bedroom at his home on Lytham Quays on June 5.
The tragedy came just months after Joshua's mother Sarah, died from cancer in March.
The budding goalkeeper, who played football for St Annes YMCA under-eights, had also lost his grandfather John, to the disease last year.
After being discovered unconscious, attempts by family members, paramedics and medical staff at Blackpool Victoria Hospital to revive Joshua, were unsuccessful.
A post-mortem examination revealed the schoolboy died from compressed neck injuries consistent with a ligature.
Blackpool coroner Anne Hind, who presided over the inquest at Blackpool Town Hall this morning, recorded the misadventure verdict.
