Motorists in Fylde are set for a seasonal boost as car parking charges are set to be waived until next year.

Fylde council say they plan to show support for local traders and residents by scrapping parking fees from Friday, November 21 until January 1, 2009.

Council leader, John Coombes said: “We are all feeling the pinch of the spiralling cost of living and the credit crunch and we are aware that many traders and local families are struggling to make ends meet.

“As a small step towards helping, I have asked that charges on Lytham and St Annes car parks be lifted during this period.

“We hope that this will encourage more people to visit and to use the many excellent shops in Lytham, St Annes and Kirkham for their Christmas shopping trips.”
