An elite team of fighting warriors is the theme of a new calendar to be launched today by Fylde Rugby Club.

The Fylde RUFC calendar is styled on the theme of the recent movie 300 about the heroic stand of 300 Spartans against the might of the Persian army at the Battle of Thermopylae in Greece in 480 BC.

Club bosses insist the discipline, physical training and strategic skills reflected by the elite army symbolises the Fylde squad.

The calendar is being launched tonight and the highlight of the evening will be the calendar hunks strutting their stuff on the catwalk in all their glory followed by calendar signings.

Part of the proceeds of the £7.99 calendar will go to the Wooden Spoon Society, rugby's charity which supports mentally, physically and socially disadvantaged children and young people
