I looked at my calendar yesterday and was staggered to find that half my time in office is over, yet what a wonderful time this has been!.
The amount of voluntary work we have witnessed and which we take for granted in the Fylde fills me with pride in its people.
At this festive time I would ask each of you to consider putting time aside for one of the hundreds of voluntary organisations in our borough who are desperately short of helpers - for no better gift can be given this Christmas time.
Volunteering costs little, but these organisations hold the fabric of the Fylde together and they need you.
And whether you enjoy working with young people, taking care of our heritage, offering a listening ear or getting your hands dirty by doing something practical, there is sure to be something you can enjoy and, in doing so, put something back into our wonderful community at the same time.
In closing, may I thank you all for your kindness to the mayoress and myself and wish you and your families the happiness that only Christmas brings.
Every good wish, Councillor John Prestwich Mayor of Fylde
