Police are warning residents in the Fylde to be cautious after bogus callers have targeted residents in Warton over the past two weeks.
It is believed that two men, claiming to be TV licence inspectors, have called at the properties of elderly residents asking for access to check on the television or TV licences.
It is believed the same men have also stopped people who are out walking their dogs, asking them if they have seen a small dog which has escaped.
Once engaged in conversation, the men have tried to obtain details of where the person lives before driving off.
The men are both described as Asian, of average height with dark hair.
PC Paul Edson, community beat manager for Warton, said: “Fortunately those residents that have been approached have been wary and have not let the males into their house or given out any information.
“I would urge all residents to be extra cautious and if they notice anything suspicious to contact the police immediately.”
If residents think that they have been targeted by the men, they should contact police on 01253 293933. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
