Visiting times at Wesham Hospital Rehabilitation Unit have been restricted following a suspected outbreak of the winter vomiting bug, Norovirus.

A number of patients and staff have been affected by the virus, which causes diarrhoea and vomiting.

As a precautionary measure, visiting times have been restricted to 3pm-5pm.

A spokesman for Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Norovirus is highly contagious and the decision to restrict visiting times has been taken as a precautionary measure to help prevent the virus from spreading.

"Visitors who have been unwell themselves can further prevent the spread of Norovirus in hospitals by ensuring that, they do not visit patients until they have been free of symptoms for 48-hours.”
