Work is to start today on a long awaited skateboard in the Wesham area of the Fylde.
The Wesham facility, in Fleetwood Road, will have the first sod cut and work will begin to lay the base.
The park, costing £40,000, is being built with money from Fylde Borough Council and the Local Strategic Partnership.
Commenting, Councillor Simon Renwick, said: “I am delighted that the work is at last under way.
"We’ve had a few delays in the past, but it’ll be great to see this work undertaken and hopefully completed in time for the summer holidays.
"There are many skaters in Wesham and Rural Fylde who are going to benefit from this park.
"The Fleetwood Road ground is soon going to become one of the best play grounds in Fylde, following the £40,000 investment from Fylde in skate facilities and further £85,000 will be spent in the coming year on play equipment as part of the planning gain from housing developments.
"I can’t wait to see the whole park finished and the young people of Wesham and Rural Fylde enjoying themselves in this superb facility.”
