Councillor Simon Renwick, Conservative Councillor, Fylde Borough Council, today makes a call for more allotments to be made available in the Fylde.

Fylde has many allotments but there are growing waiting lists for any vacant plots, he said.

In Wesham, the ward Councillor Renwick represents, there are two sites and the Town Council is taking on a lease that'll see an additional ten plots become available from Fylde Borough Council.

The ten additional plots needs some clearing work as Fylde had allowed them to become over grown, he said.

A quote for the job has been given at about £2,000, Coun Renwick added.

Commenting Councillor Renwick said: "I am delighted at the growing popularity of allotments, they are a sustainable and healthy way to live.

"I was also delighted when Fylde agreed to lease the allotments to the Town as there is a waiting list in Wesham.

"However, when Fylde took these allotments from Wesham some years ago they were perfectly useable.

"Now they are over grown and it is only right that they are given back in a condition that people can start growing on.

"I've asked for the work to be done and I hope it is agreed to."
