A team of Kirkham surveyors raised more than £2,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust by scaling the UK's highest peaks in 24-hours.

Staff from chartered structural engineers Brewster Associates, based at Clifton Business Centre, Kirkham, teamed up with drainage engineers Auger to successfully complete the Three Peaks Challenge, on May 17, which saw them scale Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon.

The grueling challenge involved a total ascent of 3400 metres over 24-hours, with a journey of more than 500 miles over the entire day.

David Brewster, senior partner at Brewster Associates, said: "This was the first Three Peaks Challenge that we have undertaken, and it's fair to say that we'll be sleeping well for a while!

"Fortunately, we were relatively lucky with weather conditions, and it has been a fantastic team building experience as well as a really good opportunity to raise money for a very worthy cause."

The team from Brewster Associates and Auger got themselves prepared for the task by drafting in the help of former Royal Marine commando Greg Pye, founder of Body Solutions.

During the weekends running up to the challenge, Greg took to the team on a series of intense expeditions, including one in near-blizzard conditions.

Gary Cook from Auger added: "It feels amazing to have completed such a feat and to have raised so much money for Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

"It was a great experience that I think we'll all never forget, I just wish my legs would catch up and feel as good as I do!"
