A woman who was seriously injured in a bank holiday crash on the M55 last week is recovering.

Karen Cooper, of Marton, was a passenger in a Ford Transit which left the motorway close to junction three, near Kirkham.

She was airlifted to the Royal Preston Hospital suffering "severe chest injuries" but is now in a stable condition.

Her husband, 57-year-old of Michael, of Glastonbury Avenue, Blackpool, has been charged with her attempted murder.
