Kirkham-based surveyors, Brewster Associates, are being put through their paces for the Three Peaks Challenge.

A seven-strong team featuring members of the firm and also drainage engineers Auger has enlisted the help of Body Solutions' Greg Pye, a former Royal Marine commando and mountain leader, to ensure that they are all set for the task ahead.

On May 17, the team will climb the UK's three highest peaks, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, in just 24 hours, a total ascent of more than 3400 metres over 25 miles.

The challenge also involves a drive of more than 500 miles in between each location.

The team is raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

David Brewster, senior partner of Brewster Associates, said: "We all knew this was going be a tough challenge, but with Greg's help we are finally realising how tough it actually is!

"Being surveying and drainage engineering specialists, many of the team are physically active on a day-to-day basis, but that doesn't necessarily mean we're used to commando-style training!

"However, as well as raising money for a very good cause, the training is proving to be an excellent team building exercise, which will invaluable when the day of the challenge comes around."

Gary Cook, of Auger, added: "When we were told that we were going commando' in the run up to the challenge, there were a few worried faces, but fortunately it wasn't taken literally.

"Greg's help has been invaluable and we are now all really looking forward to May 17 and raising as much as we can for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust."

Established in 1964, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust funds medical and scientific research to develop a cure and provides effective treatments and, where appropriate, financial assistance to anyone affected by cystic fibrosis.
