A councillor has donated two nesting boxes to a wood in rural Fylde.

Rural Fylde Conservative Councillor, Simon Renwick, donated the two nesting boxes to Kirkham Wood earlier this month to coincide with National Bird Box Week.

The boxes, both now installed by Fylde Borough Council staff, were purchased and donated personally by Coun Renwick.

The nesting boxes are the first to be put up in Kirkham Wood which is adjacent to the town's railway station.

Coun Renwick said: "I was proud to be able to donate these boxes.

"I believe firmly in supporting and protecting England's natural wildlife and I do hope that a couple of our feathered friends find these two new homes to their liking and I look forward to them being used.

"I will also look at making this an annual donation at this time of the year with other venues around rural Fylde."
