A PIONEERING environmental partnership has been launched, with African leaders visiting Lancashire to gain tips and advice on green issues.
The county's top experts on waste, recycling and conservation welcomed people from the Gulu region in Uganda to help them establish projects in their own community.
During the trip, Lancashire County Council's cabinet committee on climate change and the environment announced that it had agreed a £47,000 contribution over three years to initiate projects in Gulu.

The project is being billed as the Lancashire Carbon Compensation Scheme.
Carbon Compensation acknowledges the impact that developed regions such as Lancashire make on other areas of the world due to our higher carbon emissions and aims to compensate for them.
Six projects have been agreed including tree plantations, wetlands conservation and waste management to help Gulu leaders develop their region in an environmentally sustainable way.
County Councillor Matthew Tomlinson, cabinet member for environment and transportation, said: "Our colleagues at the Gulu Municipal Council have come up with a very clear and detailed plan of how we in Lancashire can use our knowledge and experience to support them to protect their environment.
"A little help from the county council in areas such as waste and recycling, and managing natural resources will go a very long way in a community where many people lack basic necessities."
Three members of the Gulu community are visiting Lancashire for the next fortnight.
They will see waste and recycling plants in Preston and Accrington, agricultural facilities at Myerscough College, wetlands at Leighton Moss and a beekeeping workshop at Arnside.
