Robin and Frost Fair Ice Rink Manager Gill Wood team up with Waddle and Frosty to launch the Chester Zoo event
Olympic and European ice skating champion, Robin Cousins, head judge on ITV's ratings winner Dancing on Ice, got his skates on to officially launch Chester Zoo's Frost Fair.
Featuring a real ice' rink, along with the array of magical attractions, a carousel, entertainment and even snow, Frost Fair runs until January 13.
Robin took time out from his busy schedule to officially launch the event and even passed on tips to budding skaters including Sophie Greener and step sister Tyrah Sinclair, from Blackpool.
"We were delighted to have one of Britain's all time sporting greats help us kick off this year's spectacular," said Chester Zoo visitor services manager Liz Child.
Robin won Olympic gold in 1980 and went on to scoop the world free skating championship gold medal three times.
The 110-acre zoo is open as usual throughout the Frost Fair and a special Twilight Ticket allows guests into the fair after the zoo shuts.
