Joan Humble MP to visit Fleetwood vets

Blackpool North and Fleetwood MP, Joan Humble, will be visiting the Milne and Shine Veterinary Practice, Warrenhurst Road, Fleetwood, at 1.30pm tomorrow.

The visit is to promote a new cat neutering scheme which is run in this area by Stockydale Road based Furry Tails Feline Rescue, in conjunction with the Cats Protection League.

It is designed to combat the large number of unwanted and stray cats in the area which can end up in terrible conditions.

Local cat rescue centres are at crisis point with unwanted kittens and mothers being brought in every day.

The scheme is free to people on low incomes and covers the whole of the Fylde coast.

Mrs Humble will meet the practice manager Mrs Basset, the Chair of Furry Tails Feline Rescue, John Rose, and the Head of Campaigning at the Cats Protection League, John Farrar.

Mrs Humble said: "I am pleased to have been asked to help promote this free cat neutering programme.

"It is important that pet owners behave in a responsible manner and as a cat owner myself I ensured that my own cat was neutered.

"There are far too many horror stories involving animals which could be easily averted.

"I applaud Furry Friends Feline Rescue and the Cats Protection League for introducing this free scheme which can be easily accessed across the Fylde coast."
