A woman was sexually assaulted as she walked home in Fleetwood, police said.

The 21-year-old was walking along Kemp Street some time between 11.45pm on Tuesday night and 12.15am on Wednesday morning when a man pulled up in a car beside her.

He offered her a lift home which she refused. He then got out of the car and engaged her in a short conversation before offering her a lift for a second time.

Again, the woman refused, at which point, the man grabbed her and attempted to kiss her.

However, he let her go and got back in his vehicle when he was disturbed by a group of men passing by.

The woman, although unhurt, was left extremely shaken by the incident but was able to contact police.

The man is described as Asian, around five feet eight inches tall with brown hair.

He was clean-shaven and was wearing a light-coloured top, blue jeans and white trainers.

The car he was in was described as a dark coloured hatchback with tinted windows.

DC Mick Englishby, of Fleetwood CID said: "Fortunately, the woman was unhurt but she was left extremely shaken by what has happened.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward and contact police.

"Any piece of information no matter how small could be crucial so I would urge anyone who thinks they may have seen anything at all suspicious to let us know."
