A van driver accused of causing a motorcyclist's death by dangerous driving is to face a re-trial.
The jury at Preston crown court was discharged by Judge Anthony Russell QC when they were unable to reach a verdict after considering the evidence for more than four hours.
The prosecution alleged that George Dearden, 50, of Pharos Street, Fleetwood, died after crashing into the van as it performed a stupid and dangerous U-turn in Amounderness Way, near Fleetwood.
Fish merchant worker Jason Horsley, 37, of The Grove, Cleveleys, denied the charge following the accident on August 24 last year.
He told police he did not see the motorcycle until it hit the van.
A date for the re-trial is expected to be arranged next week.
